Drew Downs Blue Jays

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- After a week away, the Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team was back in action Saturday as they hosted Drew in Landmark Conference play. Drew got off to a hot and quick start as they downed Etown, 24-11. 

Drew took a quick 2-0 lead in the first quarter after scoring less than a minute into the game. Sam Deiaco responded to cut the Rangers lead at 13:06 as Megan Gress was on the assist. From there Drew gained full control as they led, 10-1 after the first quarter. Megan Meyer got it going for the Blue Jays start the second as Deiaco assisted just ten seconds into the quarter. Five minutes into the quarter, the Rangers took a ten-point lead. Midway through the second, Deiaco responded with her second goal of the game to hold Drew at a ten-point lead. Drew ended the quarter with two more before Madison Hennelly and Deiaco ended the quarter with two more Etown goals. At the half, Drew led 15-5. 

Drew Bridges scored on a woman-up goal, three minutes into the third quarter as Etown continued to trail, 15-6. Deiaco completed her hat-trick as she scored, at the 8:27 minute mark. From there the Rangers ended the third with five more goals extending their lead to 21-7. In the final quarter, Drew added goal number 22 before the Blue Jays scored three straight. Drew fired off two more goals before Gress ended the scoring with Etown's 11th goal of the game. 

Alayna Trynosky made 12 saves in goal while Rachel Murphy grabbed five saves. Deiaco led the team with seven points; five goals and two assists. Gress tallied three assists and a goal. 

Elizabethtown plays next at Moravian, Wednesday, April 10 at 4PM.
