Burns Throws Complete Game in Win over Drew

MADISON, NJ.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team closed out the weekend Landmark Conference series with Drew, Sunday winning 5-3. Freshman, Logan Burns pitched his first complete career game as he struck out eight.

Drew pitching struggled early as Elizabethtown scored two runs via walks with the bases loaded. Etown's third run of the game was scored on wild pitch and the Blue Jays fourth run of the first inning was scored off Alex McClain's sacrifice fly to center field. The Rangers cut Etown's lead in the bottom half of the inning scoring two runs on three hits. After a scoreless second, Drew came within one of Elizabethtown as they scored on a RBI-single.

The Blue Jays scored their final run of the game in the fourth as AJ Bednar reached first via a walk. RJ Agriss' sacrifice bunt moved Bednar to second. Bednar then advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a throwing error to bring the score to 5-3. Through the end of the game the Blue Jays just produced two hits.

Burns continued to be efficient on the mound going the distance striking out eight while only walking four. Eight Blue Jays were walked by Drew pitchers at least once for a total of ten walks.

Elizabethtown is back at it tomorrow for their final home game. The Blue Jays host Catholic at 1PM on Monday.
