River Hawks Roll Past Blue Jays on Senior Day

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team celebrated senior Sam Deiaco and junior goalie, Alayna Trynosky prior to the start of the Landmark Conference contest against Susquehanna.  The Blue Jays fell, 19-10 after the River Hawks had a strong first half.

Susquehanna scored right out of the gate following a shot that was rebounded. Elizabethtown swiftly responded as Megan Gress assisted Megan Meyer. Susquehanna then went on a 4-0 run tallying goals with just minutes of each other. The River Hawks grabbed a 5-1 lead before Deiaco recorded her first of six on the day. Susquehanna again fired off four goals in a row, which extended their lead to 9-2. Deiaco and Drew Bridges ended the quarter for Etown with two more goals as they trailed, 9-4 after the first. Susquehanna grabbed the first goal of the second quarter at the 13-minute mark. Just seconds later Deiaco responded with a Blue Jay goal. The River Hawks then jumped out to a 15-5 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the quarter. Bridges tallied her second free-position goal of the day as Etown trailed by nine. Susquehanna scored the final goal of the quarter at the two-minute mark to lead by ten at halftime.

The third quarter was a defensive battle between the two teams as just one goal was scored by Susquehanna in the ninth minute. The River Hawks held a 5-1 edge in shots in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was all Blue Jays as they recorded four goals to Susquehanna's two. Susquehanna started off the quarter again with a goal just a few minutes in. Deiaco quickly responded with three straight goals of her own to bring the score to 18-9. With just under 40 seconds remaining, Bridges recorded her third goal of the game for a hat-trick.

Deiaco led all goal scorers with six goals, three ground balls, and two draw controls. Bridges recorded a hat-trick and grabbed eight draw controls. Gress added two assists.

Trynosky made nine saves in the goal for the Blue Jays.

Elizabethtown closes out their season on Tuesday, April 30th at 5:30pm as they host Lycoming.
