Blue Jays Edge Lycoming in Season Finale

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team closed out the 2024 season on a high note as they defeated Lycoming, 12-7. 

Drew Bridges led all scorers with six goals while Sam Deiaco recorded the final hat-trick of her career. 

Lycoming started off the scoring two minutes into the first quarter. Elizabethtown responded with two back-to-back goals just 30 seconds apart. Deiaco and Bridges each recorded their first goal of the game. The Warriors brought it back as they tied up the game, 2-2 about midway through the quarter. At the 7:49 minute mark then a minute later the Bridges and Megan Gress duo each assisted one another on a goal. Lycoming added another goal with four minutes remaining as they trailed Etown, 4-3 after one quarter. 

Bridges got right to it in the second to score the Blue Jays fifth goal, unassisted. After several minutes, Bridges grabbed two consecutive goals to extend Elizabethtown's lead to 7-3. The Warriors scored on at the two minute mark going into halftime. About two minutes into the third quarter, Lycoming's Riley Block tallied an unassisted goal. The Blue Jays quickly gained momentum following the next draw as Abby Bach assisted Deiaco. Bach and Bridges scored the final two for the Blue Jays in the quarter to double their lead to 10-5. 

In the fourth, the Blue Jays book-ended the quarter with two goals. Gress scored one 40 seconds into the quarter while Deiaco ended the game with a goal with just two seconds remaining. 

Elizabethtown ends their season 6-10 overall and 3-6 in the Landmark Conference.
