Blue Jays Split with Drew

MADISON, NJ.— The Elizabethtown baseball team earned a split against Drew, Saturday. The Blue Jays fell, 8-5 in game one before coming back for an explosive 15-5 win as they tallied ten runs in the fifth inning. 

GAME 1: DREW 8, ELIZABETHTOWN 5
In game one against Elizabethtown and Drew, the Rangers scored first on a sacrifice fly to center field in the second inning. In the top of the third, Alex McClain led off the inning with a single up the middle. Griffin Patridge reached on an error which also moved McClain. The two then advanced on a wild pitch. Mason Woolwine knocked a 2-RBI double down the line to score Patridge and McClain.

The Rangers tied the game 2-2 with a solo home run shot to left field in the fourth. Drew started off the sixth with another solo home run to take a 3-2 lead. A Ranger RBI-double added Drew's fourth run to double their lead, 4-2. Elizabethtown retook the lead in the seventh, scoring three runs on three hits. David Woolley hit a single to right center to score McClain after he reached first via a walk. Quinten Perilli added a single which brought Woolley home. After stealing second, a single from AJ Bednar brought Perilli across home plate to bring Etown's lead to 5-4.

Drew had a big eighth inning tacking on four runs which would ultimately secure the Ranger's 8-5 win over Etown. Woolley went 3 for 5 with one run and one RBI.

GAME 2: DREW 5, ELIZABETHTOWN 15
Elizabethtown changed their tone in game two against Drew as they got on the board first, scoring two runs in the first. Woolley hit a lead off single followed by one from Perilli. After Woolley and Perilli advanced on a sacrifice bunt, Woolley scored on a sacrifice fly. Bryce Keller had his first hit on the day for a RBI-single to score Perilli. Drew took a 3-2 lead in the second following two RBI-singles. The Rangers held on to the lead after two scoreless innings. 

In the fifth, Etown gained momentum scoring ten runs on eight hits. Garrett Schwartzbeck opened the inning with a solo home run to tie up the game, 3-3. Woolley smacked a triple to left center and then went home on a fly out. RJ Agriss and Joe Limongelli recorded a RBI each to score two more Blue Jay runs which extended their lead to 6-3. Schwartzbeck came up for his second at-bat in the inning as he recorded a two RBI-single. Woolley, Mason Woolwine, and Bednar ended the inning with a single each as they brought in four more runs to pull out to a 12-3 lead. The Rangers added their two final runs of the day to come within eight of Etown. 

The Blue Jays weren't done yet as they added on three more runs in the seventh to end the game 15-5 as they forced the conference's 10-run rule. 

Woolley had another great game as he went 4 for 5 with four runs scored and a triple. Bednar went 3 for 4 with two runs, and two RBIs. Schwartzbeck went 2 for 4 with two runs, three RBIs and a home run. 

The Blue Jays are back at it tomorrow with Drew to end the series starting at 12PM.
