ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team closed out their Landmark Conference series against Moravian, Wednesday afternoon as they defeated the Greyhounds 7-1.
Elizabethtown only allowed one hit through six innings until the seventh when Moravian scored their lone run while adding two more hits.
After a scoreless first inning, Etown got two runs on the board.
AJ Bednar led off the inning with a single then stole second. Bednar then scored off an outfielder error. After reaching first on an error,
Joe Limongelli scored on
Garrett Schwartzbeck's RBI-single. The next several innings went three-up-three-down as the Blue Jays continued to hold on to a 2-0 lead.
Etown got going again in the sixth tacking on three more runs. Bednar again started off with a single then advanced on
Bryce Keller's single to center field. On a failed out attempt, Bednar scored on an error by the pitcher.
Alex McClain and Schwartbeck ended the inning with an RBI-single each to extend the Blue Jays lead to 5-0. Moravian scored their lone run of the game with a solo home run to left field.
Quinten Perilli responded for Etown with his own solo home run to start off the bottom of the seventh. Bednar recorded his lone RBI of the game to score
Tyler Bohn for Etown's seventh run.
Bednar went 3 for 4 with two runs and a RBI. Perilli went 2 for 4 with one run, one RBI, and a home run. Perilli also got the win on the mound as he recorded two strikeouts.
Elizabethtown will travel to Drew for one final weekend conference series starting at 12pm on Saturday, April 27.
