ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team successfully eluded the sting of no.17 Shenandoah, 6-5 on a sunny Monday at Boyd Stadium.
After a scoreless first inning, Elizabethtown got on the board first, scoring two in the second.
AJ Bednar led off the inning reaching base after being hit by a pitch.
RJ Agriss successfully laid down a bunt down the right field line to advance Bednar. On a sacrifice fly, Bednar scored.
Griffin Patridge hit a RBI-single to left field to bring home, Agriss. Shenandoah responded in the top of the third with a a run to cut Etown's lead to, 2-1.
The next two and a half innings were scoreless before the Blue Jays got it going in the sixth as they tacked on three more runs.
Quinten Perilli led off the inning reaching first via a walk. Perilli then advanced on an error and a sacrifice bunt. With the bases loaded,
Alex McClain singled to score Perilli. Patridge added two more RBIs on his day to extend Etown's lead, 5-1. In the seventh, the Hornets hit a solo home run to bring the score of 5-2. E
Elizabethtown scored their final run of the game in the seventh as Agriss recorded a RBI-single. The Blue Jays got in some trouble in the ninth as Shenandoah scored three runs on four hits.
Zach Silfies came in to pitch in the ninth with two outs but successfully earned the save after striking out the final batter to win, 6-5.
Elizabethtown is back in conference action tomorrow at 3:30 pm as they travel to Catholic.
