ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team grabbed their 20th win of the season as they swept Immaculata at home, 7-3, 4-2 on a windy but sunny Saturday.
GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 7, IMMACULATA 3
The first two innings were scoreless but Immaculata was the team to strike first as they recorded a run in the top of the third. Elizabethtown responded in the bottom half of the inning scoring two to take a 2-1 lead.
David Woolley doubled to center field and
Mason Woolwine's single brought him home. Woolwine then scored off two Mighty Mac errors. Immaculata took a 3-2 lead in the fourth after a two-run homer.
Etown responeded in the bottom of the fourth to tie up the game, 3-3. After reaching base on a single to left field,
Quinten Perilli would go on to score on an Immaculata error. Perilli kept things going for the Blue Jays in the fifth after giving Etown a 6-3 lead after a three-run homer. Elizabethtown would add an insurance run in the sixth on a wild pitch as they would take game one, 7-3.
Woolley went 2-3 with two runs and a double. Perilli went 2-2 with two runs, three RBIs, and a home run.
Garrett Schwartzbeck got the win on the mound pitching two innings while
Zach Silfies earned the save while recording four strikeouts.
GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 4. IMMACULATA 2
The first two innings were again scoreless in game two until Elizabethtown would score two runs in the third and two in the fourth. In the third, Woolley singled and advanced to second on Woolwine's single. After advancing again, Woolley scored on Perilli's RBI-single up the middle.
AJ Bednar hit a RBI-single to left field to give Etown the 2-0 lead. Woolley and Woolwine each added another RBI to their day to extend the Blue Jays lead to 4-0.
Elizabethtown held on to their 4-0 lead until Immaculata smacked two solo home runs in the eighth to cut Etown's lead.
Kyle Mulville earned the win on the mound pitching seven innings while talling five strikeouts. Silfies earned another save on the day as he struck out three.
Etown is back at home on Monday as they face No.17 Shenandoah.
