ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown baseball team closed out the Landmark Conference series with Susquehanna, as they earned a split, Saturday. The Riverhawks shut out the Blue Jays, 8-0 in game one before Etown took game two 8-3.
Quinten Perilli took sole possession of the Etown home run career record as he smacked two in game two for 19 total on his young career.
GAME 1: SUSQUEHANNA 8; ELIZABETHTOWN 0
Susquehanna got revenge on Elizabethtown in the second game of the three-game series as they only allowed two Blue Jay hits after the Riverhawks were held to zero hits on Friday.
Bryce Keller and
Mason Woolwine recorded the lone hits for Etown. Susquehanna grabbed an early, 2-0 lead after scoring runs in the second and third. Then, after two scoreless innings the Riverhawks tacked on six runs on four hits and two Etown errors in the sixth to end the scoring 8-0.
GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 8; SUSQUEHANNA 3
Game two against Susquehanna was all the Blue Jays as they scored runs in the second, third, fourth, and sixth innings before allowing two Riverhawk runs in the eighth.
Perilli went 2-5 with two runs, five RBIs, and two home runs.
AJ Bednar went 1-4 with one run, one RBI, and a home run.
Alex McClain went 2-4 with two runs, and a RBI.
After a scoreless first inning, the Blue Jay bats got going scoring four runs. McClain brought home
Joe Limongelli after he reached base on a single to left field.
David Woolley reached first via a walk before Perilli hit his first of two home runs in the game for a three-run shot to left field. Etown extended their lead to 5-0 in the third after Bednar hit his first home run of the season.
Elizabethtown kept rolling as Perilli hit is second home run of the game and the 19
th of his career in the bottom of the fourth. In the sixth, McClain,
Riley Thomas, and Woolley loaded the bases on singles. On the fielder's choice, McClain scored the seventh run for the Blue Jays. With the bases still loaded a hit by pitch forced another Elizabethtown run.
Susquehanna got started in the eighth as they scored three on four hits, but it wasn't enough as Elizabethtown won, 8-3 to take the Conference series.
Elizabethtown moves to 15-7 overall and 8-3 in Landmark Conference play. The Blue Jays will host Catholic in a single game on Tuesday, April 2 at 3PM.
