Schwartzbeck, Woolley Record 100th Career-Hit in Juniata Series Sweep

HUNTINGDON, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team was firing on all cylinders, Sunday as they completed their Landmark Conference series at Juniata. The Blue Jays defeated the Eagles 11-3 in game one before winning 12-1 in game two as they enforced the conferences 10-run rule. 

David Woolley and Garrett Schartzbeck each recorded their 100th career-hit in the doubleheader. 

GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 11; JUNIATA 3
Juniata struck first as their lead off hitter, hit a home run to left field. The Eagles added a second run in the first inning. Elizabethtown tied things up in the third before taking a 3-2 lead. Mason Woolwine led off the inning with a single to shortstop and advanced on a Woolley single. Quinten Perilli hit a 2-RBI double to score Woolley and Woolwine. AJ Bednar would bring home Perilli in a RBI-single.

After a scoreless fourth, Etown got it going in the fifth scoring four runs on two hits. Perilli led off with a solo home run to left field to double the team's lead. Schwartzbeck doubled to right field for 3-RBIs, extending the Blue Jays lead to 7-2. Juniata scored their final run in the bottom of the fifth off an RBI single. Perilli was back at as he hit his second home run of the game in the sixth. In the seventh, Schwartzbeck singled to left field. Schwartzbeck then advanced on an error and scored on Woolley's single to center field. Elizabethtown added their 10th run in the eighth before scoring their 11th and final run in the 9th to win, 11-3. 

Woolley went 3-5 with two runs, and a RBI. Perilli went 3-5 with three runs, four RBIs, two home runs, and a double. Justin Peterson picked up the win on the mound, striking out three in five innings. 

GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 12; JUNIATA 1
Elizabethtown was efficient in game two against Juniata as they enforced the Landmark Conference's new 10-run rule. The Blue Jays scored at least one run in five of the eight innings. 

Elizabethtown opened up the game with a 3-0 lead after scoring a run in the second, third and fourth innings. After scoreless fifth and sixth innings, Etown scored five in the seventh to extend their lead to 8-0. Woolley led off the inning with single and then advanced on Perilli's single. Bryce Keller also hit a single to score, Woolley. Perilli scored the Blue Jays fifth run off a ground out to shortstop. Alex McClain hit a RBI single to score Keller. On an Eagle error, two more Blue Jay runs would score. Juniata scored their first run in the bottom half of the seventh. 

Etown had another big inning in the eighth the Blue Jays would rack up four more runs to take a 12-1 lead. Keller, Bednar, and Brady Hawkins recorded RBIs in the final inning. 

Woolley went 2-5 with two runs, and a RBI. Keller went 2-4 with two runs, and three RBIs. McClain went 2-4 with two runs, and a RBI. Kyle Mulville picked up his fourth win of the season as he recorded five strikeouts. 

Elizabethtown returns home, Wednesday March 27 at 3PM as they host Moravian.
