Blue Jays Shutout Goucher

TOWSON, Md.-- The Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team opened up Landmark Conference play in dominating fashion as they shutout Goucher, 12-0. 

Sam Deiaco led the team with eight goals and an assist for nine points. Megan Gress recorded five assists and picked up five ground balls. 

Deiaco opened up the scoring for the Blue Jays with 11:26 left in the first quarter. Almost three minutes later, Madison Hennelly added Etown's second goal as Gress fed on the first two. Abby Bach and Drew Bridges added the following goals for Elizabethtown. Deiaco recorded the Blue Jays fifth goal with two minutes remaining as Gress added another assist. With just three seconds remaining in the first quarter, Deiaco had completed a hat-trick. 

Etown quickly extended the team's lead 8-0 within the first three minutes of the second quarter. Deiaco added her fifth and sixth goals of the game to bring the Blue Jays up, 10-0. Bridges assisted on Elizabethtown's final goal of the quarter. Etown was just held to two goals in the third quarter which would also be the final score of 12-0. Gress assisted Deiaco in the first three minutes and final three minutes of the quarter. Goucher controlled the final quarter out-shooting the Blue Jays, 7-3. 

Etown moves to 4-4 on the season and will host Lycoming on Friday, March 29 at 4PM.
