ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse attack recorded 30 points (19 goals, 11 assists) and defensively had 12 caused turnovers and the goalies combined for 14 saves as the Blue Jays won big over Eastern, 19-7.
Megan Gress had a game-high 10 points for Etown.
Eastern had the better of the draw controls in the first half of play, but their 14 turnovers did not help and Elizabethtown was able to take advantage of those possessions. They led 4-2 after one and took control of the game in the second quarter by outscoring the Eagles 8-3.
Sam Deiaco had a hand in the first six goals for the Jays, scoring the first two and assisting on the third as EC got out in front 3-0. Deiaco assisted on
Abby Bach's goal 32 seconds after Deiaco's second of the game.
After Eastern made it 6-4,
Jordyn Hironimus connected on her first career goal with 6:54 to go in the half as
Maeve Keeney drew the defense and dished to the first-year for the goal. Elizabethtown scored six of the final seven goals of the half and led 12-5 after 30 minutes.
Megan Gress shook off a defender with a nice spin move with under 40 seconds to go to cap off the explosive first half of play.
The Eagles got one back to start the third, but the Jays outworked Eastern and scored the next five to take a commanding 11-goal lead after Gress and
Megan Meyer scored back-to-back two minutes apart.
Madison Hennelly and Meyer netted fourth-quarter goals.
Alayna Trynosky had five saves in goal to get the win for Elizabethtown.
Rachel Murphy made nine saves for the Jays as each played a half's worth of game action.
The Blue Jays will host Wilson on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m.
