ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team opened up Landmark Conference play at Kevin Scott Boyd Stadium, Saturday against Scranton. In a single game, Etown fell 5-4 to the Royals.
Scranton got on the board first scoring three in the top of the first. The following two innings were scoreless until Elizabethtown tied up the game, 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth.
Quinten Perilli led off the inning with a single down the left field line. On a sacrifice bunt, Perilli advanced.
Alex Perrin singled to center field to score, Perilli.
Garrett Schwartzbeck ended the inning with a 2-RBI single to center field. Etown took the lead in the sixth as they added a run.
Alex McClain led off with a double down the left field line and then advanced on a sacrifice bunt. Schwartzbeck then singled up the middle to score, McClain. After six, Elizabethtown led Scranton, 4-3. The following innings were scoreless as the ninth inning determined the winner. In the top of the ninth Scranton scored off an RBI-single to win, 5-4.
Perrin went 2-3 with one run and a RBI. Schwartzbeck went 3-4 with three RBIs.
Elizabethtown will now face Scranton in a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 11AM.
