McClain, Keller Hit First Career Home Runs in Scranton Split

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team closed out the three-game Landmark Conference series against Scranton in thrilling fashion, Sunday as they tallied four home runs in the 14-4 win in game three. To start off the day, the Blue Jays fell, 10-6 in game two vs. Scranton. 

In the second game of the day, Alex McClain and Bryce Keller recorded their first career home runs. 

SCRANTON 10; ELIZABETHTOWN 6 
Elizabethtown got started in the second scoring the first run of the game off a sacrifice fly. Scranton went up 5-1 after scoring runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings. Etown scored another in the sixth before adding two more in the seventh to come within one of the Royals. David Woolley led off the seventh with a single and then scored off a Royal error. Perilli singled and advanced to second on that same error before scoring on ground out. 

Scranton really got things going in the eighth scoring five runs on just two hits. Elizabethtown recorded two more runs in the eighth on three hits. AJ Bednar led off with a single to left center. Mason Woolwine and Woolley each hit a RBI-triple to bring in two more runs for the Blue Jays. After eight innings, Etown trailed, 10-6. 

ELIZABETHTOWN 14; SCRANTON 4
Scranton scored the first two runs of the game in the first and wouldn't score another run until the sixth inning. McClain led off the third inning with a solo home run to left field to cut Scranton's lead. After Woolley reached first via a walk, Perilli knocked a 2-RBI home run left center to give Etown the, 3-2 lead. Bednar recorded an RBI single in the fourth after Alex Perrin hit a double to left field. 

In the fifth Elizabethtown added three more runs on just one hit to take a 7-2 lead over the Royals. To start the inning Chance Montgomery and Woolley were walked and hit by a pitch to load two on the bases. The two then advanced on a wild pitch. Keller hit a 2-RBI single to center field to bring home Woolley and Montgomery. On a ground out to the pitcher, Perilli scored after being intentionally walked and reaching third on a stolen base. Scranton grabbed their third run in the sixth as they trailed Etown, 7-3 and then added another in the seventh. 

In the bottom of the seventh the Blue Jays went up 9-4 after scoring two more off of two hits. Elizabethtown really gained momentum in the eighth scoring five runs on three hits to end the game on a 10-run rule decision. In the eighth Montgomery led off with a home run and Keller hit a three run home run to left field to end the game, 14-4. 

Elizabethtown is back at it this Tuesday March, 18 at Catholic at 3PM.
