Goucher Grounds Blue Jays

TOWSON, Md.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball team fell 87-78 at Goucher on Wednesday evening in a Landmark Conference game. 

Rance Russo led the team with 16 points and four rebounds. Dylan Rowe totaled 14 points and six rebounds while Niko Georgelis contributed 14 points from the bench also with six rebounds. Austin Finarelli added 11 points. 

Goucher got started quick making the first two baskets within the first two minutes of play. Elizabethtown and Goucher went at it early as the Blue Jays first made buckets were free-throws. Layups from Tyreke Herbert and Rowe brought Etown within one of Goucher at 13-12. The two teams would trade points for the next several minutes as Rowe made free-throws followed by a Finarelli jumper. With just under a minute remaining Finarelii added another bucket as the Blue Jays trailed 39-31. MJ Branker made the final layup for Etown before the Gophers added one of their own to lead, 41-34 at halftime. 

The second half was tight to start as Russo made a fast break jumper before sinking a 3-pointer, three minutes into play. EJ Finney and Branker brought the Blue Jays within two of Goucher at 49-47. Etown kept the score tight as a Georgelis layup at the 12 minute mark. Goucher would pull away by 10 points in the next five minutes. Points from Rowe, Finney, and Ben Stanton brought Etown back within five of Goucher at 68-63. Just under five minutes remaining, Georgelis sunk a three followed by another one just a minute later. After two consecutive Gopher three's, Goucher had again pulled away by eight points with 2:34 remaining. In the final minutes the two teams traded free-throws with Goucher ultimately winning, 87-78. 

Elizabethtown will be back at home this Saturday, February 10th at 2PM to face Wilkes on senior day.
