READING, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's lacrosse picked up a season opening, 13-11 win over Albright, Saturday.
With her eighth goal Saturday, senior
Sam Deiaco scored her 100
th career goal.
Deiaco led the team with ten points as she tallied nine goals and an assist.
Megan Gress tallied six assists and two goals.
Rachel Murphy and Alayna Trynosy combined for 11 saves in the win.
Elizabethtown struck first in the 13
th minute of the first quarter from
Megan Meyer. Albright swiftly responded to tie the game 1-1. The Lions went up 2-1 before Etown tallied two consecutive goals from Deico and Gress to take the lead. After Albright came within one, Gress recorded the next two goals within 30 seconds of each other to go up, 6-3. Albright ended the first quarter with two more goals down, 6-5. After the second quarter, the Lions tied the game at 8-8 after two more goals from Gress.
It took five minutes into the third quarter for Etown to get on the board again as
Abby Bach assisted Deiaco on her fifth goal of the game. With 16 seconds left in the quarter, Deiaco ended the on a free position goal to keep Etown in the lead. The Blue Jays were quick to start the final quarter as Gress assisted Deiaco on a man-up goal to lead, 11-9. Deiaco ended the Blue Jays scoring to secure their 13-11 win over Albright.
Elizabethtown hosts Alvernia, Tuesday February 27th at 7PM in their season home opener.
