Women's basketball takes down Drew on the road

MADISON, N.J. -- The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team took down Drew on the road Wednesday night in Landmark Conference action. Allyia Kennedy led all scorers with 14 points off the bench.

Drew took an early lead, 5-2, but after Jessica King's layup at 7:38 of the first quarter, Elizabethtown controlled the score, and the game, from thereon out. Kennedy's layup for the final points of the first gave the Blue Jays a 17-11 lead going into the second.

The defense was sharp in the second, holding the Rangers to just 1-for-13 shooting and two points over those 10 minutes of play. Etown outscored Drew 10-2 in the quarter and led 27-13 at the half.

Kennedy tied for a team-high 12 minutes in the second half and put up 12 of her 14 points over the final two quarters. She was 4-for-5 from the floor and the free throw line. Cyleigh Wilson also extended her streak of made threes to 24 games after knocking down another triple in the game. The Blue Jays shot 50 percent in the second half of action.

Summer McNulty added 11 points for Etown and King grabbed 11 rebounds. DaniRae Renno added eight points and six rebounds to the cause while Makenna Mummert registered a team-high four assists.

The Blue Jays can grab the two-seed in the Landmark with a win on Saturday at Scranton. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
