Men’s Basketball Falls Short at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's basketball fell short 82-79 at Susquehanna Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays fall to 2-2 in Landmark Conference play.

Rance Russo had a team-high 24 points as he went 9 of 16 from the floor while also grabbing five rebounds. Austin Finarelli totally 18 points while tallying five rebounds and five assists. Augie Brody added ten points from the bench as he went 4 of 6 from the floor.

The game was tight early as no team led by more than three points until Susquehanna went up 15-9 at the 13 minute mark. Midway through the half the Blue Jays found themselves within two following a Russo layup. Zuri Harris sunk a three with seven minutes remining to leave Etown trailing, 25-22. Ben Stanton, Finarelli, Russo and Brody added buckets to give the Blue Jays out to a 32-29 lead. Stanton added another 3-pointer on his day, extending Elizabethtown's lead by six-points. Going into halftime Elizabethtown trailed the River Hawks, 43-41.

Anthony Lilly got things started for Etown in the second half with a layup just a minute into play. Susquehanna slowly started to pull away from the Blue Jays as they extended their lead by 11 at the 13-minute mark. An EJ Finney layup and a Brody three brought Etown back within six of the River Hawks midway through the half. From there Susquehanna would go up by as many as 12-points before Elizabethtown would cut the River Hawks lead to three. The Blue Jays were unable to make the comeback as they fell, 82-79.

The Blue Jays take a break until December 16th when they travel to Immaculata.
