Men's Basketball Edges Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball team moved to 2-1 in Landmark Conference play, Wednesday evening at Juniata as they defeated the Eagles, 79-71. 

Elizabethtown went up five, early in the first half after an Austin Finarelli layup. Almost midway through the half the Blue Jays pulled away, 27-17 with the help from Zuri Harris, Malik Hudges, and Rance Russo.Etown would go up as many as 17 points before the end of the first half. With 40 seconds on the clock a layup by Reese Ziegler kept the Jays up by more than ten going into halftime. The Blue Jays and Eagles both shot 50% from the floor while Etown went 9-12 in free throws giving them the advantage. 

Coming out of halftime, Ziegler sunk a three-pointer to open the scoring in the second. Leading 60-52 midway through the half, Juniata began to cut Elizabethtown's lead. Following an Eagle three with six minutes remaining, the Blue Jays just led by seven-points. Finarelli responded a minute later with a three of his own to bring Etown back up by ten. Up 67-57 in the final five minutes the two teams traded free-throws to end the game. Juniata had slowly started to come back but it wasn't enough for the Eagles as the Blue Jays won, 79-71. 

Finarelli led the game with 29 points going 8 for 16 from the floor while grabbing eight rebounds. Ziegler totaled 12 points and five rebounds while Russo and EJ Finney each added nine points. 

Elizabethtown will travel to Susquehanna this Saturday, December 7 at 4 PM.
