ANNVILLE, Pa. -- Lebanon Valley shot well from the field and the Elizabethtown College men's basketball team struggled from beyond the arc as the Dutchmen handed the Blue Jays a 77-64 loss.
Austin Finarelli and
Rance Russo combined for 42 points.
It was a one-possession game through the opening 14 minutes until Lebanon Valley was able to get their lead to five points with 5:55 to go in the half. The Dutchmen shot 50 percent from the field in each half.
The Blue Jays struggled, hitting only 12-of-33 and going 1-for-14 from three. As the game closed in on halftime, LVC started to increase their lead more and more. They led by as many as 12. Russo's jumper late made it an eight-point game by half.
Lebanon Valley did the same in the second half, hitting 50 percent of their shots, making it tougher for the Jays to catch up after being behind.
Russo found
Anthony Lilly down low for the layup to start the second half and the deficit was only six. A little bit later, Lilly's jumper made it a three-point game as Etown had worked its way back into it.Â
From there, the Flying Dutchmen slowly began lengthening their advantage, getting it back to double digits and not giving it up as they went on to beat Elizabethtown by 13.
Finarelli had a team-high 23 points while Russo finished with 19 for the Jays.
Elizabethtown will play at Juniata next Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.
