ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—Senior,
Rance Russo led the Elizabethtown College men's basketball team with a career-high 35 points in the 103-77 win over Lycoming, Saturday afternoon.
Rance was 11 of 17 from the floor and 3 of 6 in three-pointers.
Austin Finarelli totaled 19 points while grabbing five rebounds. Freshman,
Anthony Lilly also totaled a career-high of 11 points and six rebounds.
Finarelli and Lilly got the scoring going for the Blue Jays as the team went up 4-0, early. Through the first five minutes of play, Etown had doubled their lead to 18-7. In the next three minutes Lycoming
had managed to come back within four points. With just over seven minutes remaining in the half, Finarelli dropped in a layup to again double the Jays lead. The next several minutes the two teams traded points, but the Blue Jays lead was still too great as they went into halftime with a 52-38 lead.
EJ Finney and Finarelli combined for Elizabethtown's opening points of the second half as the Jays had climbed to a 61-50 lead within the first four minutes. Lycoming tried to close the gap for the next few minutes, but Etown continued to lead midway through the second half. Two straight Lilly layups put the Blue Jays up, 79-66. With seven minutes remaining Etown had pushed their lead up by 20-points after Russo free-throws. After multiple more from Russo the Jays led, 95-71 with four minutes remaining. A three from
Cam Michaels put Elizabethtown just over 100 points. Lycoming got in the final bucket, but Etown came out on top, 103-77.
Elizabethtown will step out of conference play next week as they travel to Lebanon Valley on Tuesday, November 26 at 5 pm.
