CARLISLE, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team
The Blue Jays got off to a slow start from the floor, hitting on just 3-of-17 shots in the first quarter and were held to single digits as Dickinson opened up a 16-7 lead after one period of play.
Elizabethtown got itself back into the contest with a strong second quarter, bouncing back in the shooting department with a 9-for-19 performance over the next 10 minutes.
DaniRae Renno put forward a strong first half with 10 points and seven rebounds to lead the charge while
Summer McNulty added eight points and
Lindsay Boyd nailed both of her three-point attempts.
McNulty and Renno each hit shots in the final minute of the first half to give Etown the lead, 32-30, at the break.
The Blue Jays went on a 12-2 run to begin the third quarter as their lead elevated into double digits after
Jess King's layup with 5:15 left in the third on a feed from
Ella Gordon.
Etown never looked back and over a four-possession stretch near the end of the third, the Jays knocked down three treys, a pair from
Cyleigh Wilson and one from
Grace O'Connor. Wilson's second three in the series made it a 21-point game, 59-38, going into the fourth.
Elizabethtown kept the foot on the gas as they outscored the Red Devils by 14 in the fourth, 24-10. EC was scorching hot from the floor, 7-for-10 in the final period including 5-for-6 from deep and 5-for-6 from the foul line. The Jays shot at least 44 percent for the third consecutive game and were 11-for-18 from beyond the arc and a season-best 14-for-17 from the free throw line.
McNulty and Wilson each tied for a team-high 15 while Renno went for 14 and 10 in the game.
Lindsay Boyd had 11 off the bench and
Allyia Kennedy provided 10.
The Blue Jays will take on Catholic in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, November 20, to begin Landmark Conference play.
