Blue Jays get back into Win Column Ahead of Landmark Playoffs

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team closed out the 2024 regular season with a 3-0 sweep over visiting Rutgers-Camden. 

Lucy Stanek led the team in kills with 12 (.357) and grabbed eight digs. Gracie Britten totaled 10 kills, seven digs, and three blocks. Emma Bitner and Sophie Savick each added 16 assists and Lucy Stern tallied 15 digs. 

Elizabethtown flew over the Scarlet Raptors in set one, winning 25-8. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 17-5 lead after rattling off seven points in a row. Savannah Lesley, Britten, and Alexa Adamek put down kills on the run. Etown kept plowing through as they went on a 7-1 run to close out the first set. Bitner and Kate Barbon would tally kills on the final run, giving Etown the 25-8 win. 

Set two was close to begin as Etown and Rutgers-Camden traded points to tie things up at 9-9. The Blue Jays then started to pull away as Britten and Barbon put down kills to give Etown a 15-11 lead. The Scarlet Raptors came back after going on a 5-1 run again tying up the set to 15-15. The Blue Jays then rattled off five straight, to lead by five. Britten added a kill to give Etown set point before a Rutgers service error ended the set, 25-21. 

The Blue Jays came back in set three, starting off with a 8-2 lead following kills from Barbon, Britten, and Stanek. Etown then extended their lead by 10-points after a 6-1 run. Eliz Beehler and Adamek each tallied a kill to keep Elizabethtown's lead at 10. The Scarlet Raptors closed the gap after tallying six straight to come within four of the Blue Jays. Stanek, Britten, and Marah Glenn smacked down kills as the Jays pulled away again from Rutgers-Camden. Etown would grab the final four points to win, 25-16. 

The Blue Jays will host Drew this Tuesday, November 12 at 7 pm in the Landmark First Round.
