TOWSON, Md.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team closed out Landmark Conference play Saturday afternoon as they swept Goucher, 3-0.
Lucy Stanek and
Kate Barbon led the team in kills with nine each while Stanek also grabbed 12 digs.
Lucy Stern tallied 13 digs and
Emma Bitner totaled 12 assists.
The Blue Jays started hot as they took set one, 25-5. Elizabethtown flew to an 18-1 lead and never looked back. During the team's run,
Gracie Britten, Barbon, and Stanek smacked down kills while the Jays also grabbed three service aces. Stanek had put down Etown's 20
th point just before Goucher tallied their third point of the set. To end the set two
Angela Ouimet kills sandwiched an
Ida Fisher kill to give Etown the 25-5 win.
Elizabethtown was once again on fire jumping out to a 17-4 lead. The Blue Jays went up 20-6 after three straight Gopher errors. Two more errors brought Etown within two of set-point.
Alexa Adamek put down a kill before Goucher gained some momentum, grabbing the next seven points in a row. A Gopher service error ended the set with Etown coming out on top, 25-15.
To begin set three the two traded points but Elizabethtown held the lead at 9-4.
Campbelle Dayley put down a kill to bring the score to 10-7. Goucher shortly after took the lead before the teams went back and forth again. Kills from Stanek and Fisher along with an ace from
Leah Gormley put Etown back up 18-15. The Blue Jays tallied the final five in a row to win, 25-19.
The Blue Jays continue their road stint next Saturday, November 2 to face Misericordia and Franklin & Marshall.
