ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team has a strong showing, Thursday evening as they held their season home opener against Cairn. The Blue Jays swept the Highlanders, 3-0. 
Nate Seeger totaled 32 assists while 
Logan Smith tallied 14 kills and five digs. 
Mason Boyer added a season-high seven kills and six service aces. 
Elizabethtown and Cairn began set one in a tight match-up until the Blue Jays rattled off four straight points taking a 9-6 lead. A kill from 
Trey Weedon and two consecutive aces from M. Boyer gave Etown the lead. The two teams again went back and forth before Etown went on a 7-1 to pull ahead 19-11. A M. Boyer kill and two Cairn attack errors kept the Blue Jays in the lead at 22-14. 
Nick Chapman recorded Etown's final kill to help bring the Blue Jays to a 25-17 win in set one. 
Set two saw the Blue Jays and Highlanders again in a tight match-up, following three consecutive Cairn points to tie it up, 5-5. Weedon smacked down two kills to bring the score to 7-6. Etown tallied the next four points in a row with the help from Smith and Seeger. Another kill from Smith kept Etown out front with a six-point lead. The Highlanders came within three after two Etown errors sandwiched a Cairn ace. A kill and an ace from M.Boyer extended Etown's lead to 21-15. Elizabethtown ended set two going 4-1 to win, 25-17. 
The third started the same with the two teams in a close race. Cairn recorded four in a row early, taking a 5-4 lead. Two consecutive kills from Smith brought Etown on top, 7-6. Smith again sandwiched a Cairn attack error with two kills bringing the Blue Jays lead out to 12-9. Cairn didn't give up as they later tied up the set 13-13 and then pulled ahead, 16-14 for the lead. A kill from Weedon and an ace from Smith again tied up the set 17-17. Elizabethtown gained momentum as they rattled off six straight points as M. Boyer recorded three aces during the run. A kill from Chapman and a Cairn attack error ended the set, 25-21. 
Elizabethtown returns home this Saturday, January 27th starting at 11AM for a tri-match against Wilson and Eastern.
