Wilson, women's basketball light up Lycoming

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Cyleigh Wilson did what she does best and that's bury shots from deep and the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team did what its been doing and that's win as they beat Lycoming 75-45 on Saturday at Thompson Gymnasium. Wilson led all scorers with 17 points. DaniRae Renno added 12 and Lindsay Boyd had 11 off the bench for the Jays.

Elizabethtown (13-4, 9-1 Landmark) has held its last four opponents under 50 points, including the past two games at Thompson. They held Drew to 41 on Wednesday before limiting the Warriors to 45.

The Blue Jays doubled up Lycoming (9-8, 3-7 Landmark) after one quarter, 22-11, and then really put the clamps on in the second, holding them to four points and 2-for-13 shooting (15.4 percent) as they got ahead by 21 by halftime. Renno was a force down low with her size and Lyco's inability to handle the six-foot-two forward. Renno led all with 10 points at the half while Jessica King collected six rebounds. The Jays had the rebounding edge and a 22-6 advantage in the paint. Wilson hit both of her three-point attempts.

Wilson's tear from beyond the arc continued into the second half. She attempted three more treys and knocked down all three to finish the night 5-for-5 and improve her season percentage up over 50 percent (.520). Summer McNulty added a career-high 10 assists in the game, several of which turned into Wilson threes for Etown.

Six of Boyd's 11 off the bench came in the second half of play. The junior has reached double digits in three of her last four games for the Blue Jays. Allyia Kennedy added eight on 4-for-6 shooting as Etown's bench outscored Lycoming's 27-13.

Elizabethtown has shot better than or around 50 percent as a team in four of the team's six games since the start of the New Year. The Blue Jays were 33-for-62 against the Warriors (.532) and have scored at least 75 points in four of those six.

The Blue Jays will host Juniata on Wednesday, January 24, at 7 p.m.
