ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball team moved to 4-6 in the Landmark Conference Saturday after defeating Lycoming, 72-65 for their second straight conference win in a row.
Rance Russo led the game with 22 points while going 3-5 in 3-points.
Reese Ziegler totaled 12 points and
EJ Finney added 11 along with seven rebounds.
Elizabethtown started off the first half against Lycoming with a 9-4 lead after Ziegler sunk a 3-pointer. Ziegler added another bucket to bring Etown's lead to 11-6. Minutes later following a
Tyreke Herbert steal, Herbert made the layup on a fastbreak. Midway through the half,
Ben Stanton dropped in a three to double the Blue Jays lead, 16-8. Russo recorded the next eight points for Etown to keep Elizabethtown up by 10+. With just under six minutes remaining,
Dylan Rowe made a layup bringing the score to 27-12.
Alon Gorham and Herbert each added a jumper to keep Etown with a substantial lead.
Niko Georgelis sunk a three to finish off the half for the Blue Jays. Etown led, 36-21 going into halftime.
The Blue Jays held onto to their lead to start the second half until Lycoming began chipping away. Five minutes into the half after a Warrior 3-pointer, Lycoming cut Etown's lead to nine points. Layups from Georgelis and Ziegler brought Etown back ahead by 11 to bring the score to 45-34. At the 13 minute mark, Gorham sunk a three. Through the second half of the half, Lycoming began to gain more momentum as Etown only led by five with eight minutes remaining. Minutes later Finarelli made a layup off a fastbreak followed by a made three from Russo. Points from Finney, Russo, and Ziegler brought the score to 63-57 to keep the Jays out in front. Russo and Ziegler would end the game making several free throws to win, 72-65.
The Blue Jays move to sixth overall out of ten in the Landmark Conference standings.
Elizabethtown hits the road this coming Wednesday, January 24th as they take on Juniata at 7PM.
