BETHLEHEM, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball comeback at Moravian, Friday evening fell short as the Greyhounds defeated the Blue Jays 78-68.
Rance Russo led the game with 25 points while
Reese Ziegler added 14 points and three steals.
Moravian opened up the game with a 9-2 lead after three 3-pointers.
Dylan Rowe recorded three straight layups to come within one of the Greyhounds. At the 13 minute mark,
Alon Gorham added a layup and three before
Niko Georgelis added a three of his own to tie up the game, 16-16. In the final ten minutes of the half, neither team could create a significant gap with Moravian leading by as many as five points. At halftime, Moravian led Etown 34-31.
Moravian started off the second half with a 3-pointer to extend their lead by six. Six minutes into the half, the Greyhounds kept gaining momentum as pulled out to a 47-37 lead following another three. Russo added a three of his own and pitched in free throws to bring the Greyhounds lead under ten points. Through the next five minutes, Moravian led by ten or more points until Russo and Ziegler contributed points down the stretch to bring the score to 67-63; Moravian. Moravian again pulled away with just less than a minute remaining to win, 78-68.
The Blue Jays hit the road again on January 17 at 7PM to take on Drew in Landmark play.
