ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- Four Elizabethtown men's basketball players recorded double-digits in the 76-64 win over Goucher in Landmark Conference play, Wednesday evening.
Rance Russo led the game with 17 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Dylan Rowe recorded he first double-double of the season as he total 14 points and ten rebounds.
Niko Georgelis and
Alon Gorham each added ten points.
Elizabethtown got started early as Rowe recorded the first layup of the game just seconds into the first half. The first five minutes were a back and forth affair between the Blue Jays and the Gophers until Goucher made three consecutive baskets to take a 10-6 lead.
Tyreke Herbert and
Ben Stanton added layups to come within one of the Gophers. Etown would continue their momentum as Georgelis sunk a 3-pointer down the stretch to give the Blue Jays a, 20-12 lead. Goucher came back within three of Etown before the Blue Jays went on a 11-0 run extending their lead by 14 points. With two minutes remaining, Goucher would make their final two baskets as Elizabethtown led, 32-21 at halftime.
Goucher was off to a hot start in the second half, making their first three buckets. After cutting Etown's lead to just three, Rowe would make the next three layups to bring the score to 38-29. Through the next several minutes the Blue Jay's were able to maintain control with the help of Gorham, Russo, and Georgelis. Three's from Russo and Stanton kept Etown in the lead by ten at 54-44. Elizabethtown continued to lead by at least ten points or more until the five minute mark. Goucher made two straight three's to cut Etown's lead to 66-61. In the final minutes, the team's would trade free throw's with Etown ultimately winning, 76-64.
Elizabethtown moves to 2-5 in the Landmark Conference as they travel to Moravian this Friday, January 12 at 4PM.
