Scaggs Records 200th Career Block, Blue Jays Sweep Lycoming in Conference Match

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team picked up their first Landmark Conference win of the season as they swept Lycoming (27-25, 25-20, 25-21) at home, Saturday. 

Senior, Katie Scaggs recorded her 200th career block in the win as she totaled four blocks (2BA, 2BS). Savannah Lesley and Emma Bitner each recorded a double-double. Lesley totaled 13 kills and 14 digs, while Bitner tallied 17 assists and 14 digs. 

Set one was tight until the end as Lycoming forced the extra points, but Etown came out on top to win, 27-25. To start the set, Lycoming grabbed three in a row, taking a 6-4 lead. The Blue Jays took the lead at 9-8 as Georgianna Kahley and Campbelle Dayley added kills. After some back and forth, the Warriors rattled off six straight points before Etown answered back and tallied four in a row. Scaggs, Lesley, and Kahley tied up the set at 20-20. After a kill from Kahley and Lesley the Blue Jays were one away from set point. Three Warrior attack errors ended the set giving Elizabethtown the 27-25 win. 

To start set two, Etown jumped out to a 5-1 lead after kills from Kate Barbon and Lesley. Lycoming then tallied six points in row taking a 9-7 lead. After a 7-2 run, the Blue Jays were back in front by four. Lycoming fought back and kept it tight through 20-19, Etown. Five straight points from the Blue Jays lifted them over the Warriors, 25-20. 

Etown again started off set three with a major lead, after starting on a 8-1 run. Elizabethtown kept up their momentum as they tallied eight in a row. Bitner's ace, a Lesley kill, and six Lycoming errors pulled the Jays ahead, 16-4. Lycoming then came within six after a 6-0 run. For a while the teams traded points before Scaggs and Lesey put up blocks. Kahley served up an ace at 24-15 before Lycoming rattled off six straight points, coming within three of Etown. Lesley ended the match with one final kill to win, 25-21. 

The Blue Jays hit the road for two conference matches next week. On Friday, October 6 Etown travels to Drew for a 7PM match.
