ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team moved to 5-5 overall and remains undefeated at home this season as they flew past the Haverford Fords, 3-1.
Emma Bitner recorded her third career double-double as she tallied 28 digs and 15 assists.
Karlee Ray led the team in kills with 11 (.263).
Georgianna Kahley recorded 15 digs and six kills while
Savannah Lesley totaled seven kills.
Set one saw Elizabethtown come out to a commanding, 10-1 lead over Haverford.
Gracie Britten, Ray, and Kahley contributed kills in the run. Kills from Ray and
Katie Scaggs kept Etown ahead by 10. At 17-13 Haverford had closed the gap as they tallied three consecutive kills. Scaggs smacked down two kills in a row taking a, 22-14 lead. Lesley tallied the final kill and point for the Blue Jays to win, 25-16.
Set two started similar with Etown out in front. After five points in a row, Etown led, 7-4. Elizabethtown then doubled their lead as Bitner and Scaggs put down kills. Four more points in a row from Etown kept the lead substantial at 18-9. The Fords managed to come within three after a 7-2 run. After four more points from Haverford, a service error and a kill from Lesley gave Etown the 25-21 win.
Set three started closer as Haverford came out with a 7-4 lead. A kill and an Etown attack error kept the Fords in front, 13-9. After trading points, Haverford recorded three consecutive kills to take a nine point lead. Kahley added one final kill before the Fords grabbed the final three points to win, 25-15.
Elizabethtown was back with a vengeance as they jumped out to a 15-5 lead in set four. Following six consecutive points from Ray, Bitner, and Kahley the Blue Jays were out in front. Haverford snuck in two kills before two Ford attack errors and a kill from Ray and Britten brought the score to 19-7. Three Haverford errors brought the Blue Jays to match point as
Kambrie Hepler served up an ace to end the set, 25-14.
Etown continues their home stand this Saturday, September 23 at 11 AM as they host Stevenson.
