Blue Jays Bypass Penn St.-Berks

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team kept their win-streak at home alive as they defeated Penn St.-Berks, 3-1, Tuesday evening. 

Set one saw Elizabethtown jump out to a 12-5 lead after three straight points. Two Penn St.-Berk errors kept the Blue Jays holding a substantial lead at, 17-10. Two straight blocks from Katie Scaggs, Karlee Ray, and Savannah Lesley brought Etown to a 20-12 lead over the Lions.Two Scaggs kills sandwiched a Kate Barbon kill to bring the score to 23-13. Two Lions errors ended the set, 25-15: Blue Jays. 

Etown once again came out with the lead following four consecutive points. The Lions rattled off four straight points to take a one-point lead before the Blue Jays came soaring back, 15-10. A kill from Campbelle Dayley, two Lions errors, and three straight aces from Kambrie Hepler brought the Jays back out on top. Three points in a row from Berks brought the Lions within two. Berks finished out the set with three kills to come within two of set point before a service error and an ace from Sophie Savick gave Etown the 25-23 win. 

In set three, Penn St.-Berks came out to a 9-4 lead after four straight points. The two teams traded points before the Lions rattled off six points in a row, taking a large lead of 20-9.Two kills from Eliz Beehler kept the Blue Jays within ten. Etown then gained momentum tallying seven points in a row to come within five of the Lions. Jena Minnick, Emma Bitner, Beehler, and Madisym Musselman all contributed kills on the run. Etown kept going and recorded three more straight points at 22-24 but Penn St.-Berks came out victorious on a Blue Jay error. 

Elizabethtown and Penn St.-Berks started out set four in a back-n-forth fashion as Etown led, 9-4. Three straight points from the Lions brought the score to, 10-8. Two straight Bitner aces kept the Jays in the lead at 19-14. Scaggs, Georgianna Kahley, Grace Britten, and Bitner each contributed a kill to end the set, 25-19. 

The Blue Jays are back at home this Thursday as they host Haverford at 7:30 PM.
