HAVERFORD, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown field hockey team dropped a mid-week road contest at Haverford, Wednesday evening as the Blue Jays fell, 2-0.
The Fords got on the board early, tallying their first goal at the 6:22 minute mark in the first quarter. Etown started off the second quarter with a penalty corner, five minutes into play. Following the corner,
Chloe Smith and
Drew Bridges fired off shots but they were both saved. The Jays had another opportunity towards the end of the quarter after a corner, two more shots were taken but both saved by the Haverford goalie.
Haverford tallied the game-winning goal with three minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Fords played strong defense in the third, not allowing an Etown shot. In the fourth quarter, Bridges recorded the final shot of the game but it went wide.
Rachel Murphy recorded six saves in the goal for Etown.
Elizabethtown continues their road stint as they travel to Lycoming this Friday at 7 PM for their first Landmark Conference game of the season.
