Blue Jays Down Scranton in Landmark Series Finale

SCRANTON, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team got back to their winning ways, Monday with a dominating, 16-5 win over the Royals. 

The Blue Jays are now 29-9 overall and 15-2 in the Landmark Conference while Scranton drops to 23-14 and 11-7 in the Landmark. 

Elizabethtown was quick to act, scoring their first run in the first inning. David Woolley was plated via a walk and then scored on Quinten Perilli's double to right center. Scranton put up three runs on three hits with one error committed by Etown to take a, 3-1 lead. Etown came within one in the fourth as Perilli scored on a sacrifice fly. In the fifth, the Blue Jays took a five-run lead over the Royals. Ben Watson started off with a double, then traded places with Woolley as he doubled to left center. Robbie Bertucio singled to right field to bring home Woolley. Tyler McGonigle doubled to center field to score Perilli and Bertucio. RJ Agriss doubled to bring, McGonigle across home plate. Garrett Schwartbeck singled to bring in Agriss. 

Elizabethtown recorded four of their eight total doubles in the fifth inning which is also a team season-high. Etown kept up their momentum scoring six runs on four hits with one error committed by the Royals. Perilli, Joe Limongelli and Watson all recorded RBIs in the inning. After six innings, Etown led Scranton 14-3. Scranton scored their fourth run of the game in sixth off a Blue Jay error. 

The Blue Jays scored their final two runs in the eighth. Limongelli led off the inning with a single down the left field line and advanced to third on two walks. With the bases loaded, Bertucio hit a two-RBI single to score Schwartbeck and Limongelli. Scranton added one more run in the eighth as Etown led, 16-5. 

The Blue Jays totaled eight doubles which is the teams most this season in a game. Perilli went 4-4 with three runs, two RBIs, and two doubles. Limongelli went 3-5 with two runs, two RBIs, and a double. Bertucio went 3-6 with two runs, and three RBIs.
