ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team earned their second win of the week at home as they flew past Lebanon Valley, 13-2.
The Blue Jays move to an impressive 23-7 overall while the Dutchmen fall to 18-14-1 overall.
Elizabethtown did work in the top of the first after two base-hit singles.
Justin Wetzel grabbed a line out to first, tagged first and threw over third base for a triple play. To start off the bottom half of the first,
David Woolley tripled to left field, then
Robbie Bertucio was hit by a pitch.
Quinten Perilli smacked his second homerun of the season to left field for three runs. Lebanon Valley scored one of their two runs in the top of the second.
The Blue Jays were back at it in the second scoring two runs on RBI singles to take a 5-1 lead. Etown kept their bats hot in the fourth, scoring four runs on three hits.
Ben Watson singled to first base and advanced on Woolley's double. After a walk, Watson scored on a sacrifice fly to left field. After another Blue Jay walk the bases were loaded.
Tyler McGonigle singled and then advanced on the throw while Bertucio and Woolley scored. After being walked to first,
AJ Bednar scored on a wild pitch.
The fifth and sixth innings were scoreless before the Blue Jays would score their final four runs of the game in the seventh. With two walks to start the inning, Bertucio singled up the middle for two RBIs to make the score, 11-1. Etown's final two runs came off of a ground out and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded. The Dutchmen were able to put up one final run in the top of the ninth.
Elizabethtown hosts Catholic this weekend in a crucial Landmark Conference series.
