ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team earned their 18th win of the season as they defeated Dickinson, 18-8. The Blue Jays 18 runs are a team season-high while the 17 total hits falls just one short of tying a season-high.
Robbie Bertucio recorded a career-high seven RBIs as he went 2-4, with one run scored, and his third homerun of the season.
James Vito knocked in his first career homerun as he went 2-3 with three runs scored, and three RBIs.
Dickinson struck first as they smacked a two-run homer to left field and then hit a RBI single to take a 3-0 lead after the first. Elizabethtown added their first run in the bottom half of the inning as
Ben Watson led off with a single to second. Watson then scored on a ground out to the shortstop. The Blue Jays took the lead after the second as they scored five runs on three hits. Vito was plated via a walk, then advanced to second as
Bryce Keller was walked.
Garrett Schwartzbeck doubled down the left field line, bringing home Vito. After Watson was walked, the bases were loaded and Keller was able to score on another walk. Bertucio and
Eamon McCoubrey both singled to right field, scoring the last three runs of the inning. After two, Etown led, 6-3.
In the top of the third, the Red Devils responded with five runs on just two hits to re-take the lead at 8-6. In the third, the Blue Jays bats exploded for 11 runs on ten hits with one error. Vito led off the inning with a homerun through the left side. Keller singled up the middle and then advanced to third on two more singles.
David Woolley then matched that as he singled for two RBIs. Berturcio hit a three-run homer to left field to bring the score to, 12-8. Etown wasn't done yet as they brought home five more runs on four RBIs.
From there the game began to move as the fourth through seventh innings were scoreless. Elizabethtown scored their final run to win 18-8 on a sacrifice fly.
