AMBLER, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team's comeback against Arcadia who is receiving votes in the latest D3baseball poll, fell short Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Jays fell, 8-7.
The first two innings were scoreless before Arcadia came out of the gate, scoring four runs in third. The Blue Jays scored their first run after
Quinten Perilli tripled to center field and then was brought home on
AJ Bednar's RBI single. Etown came within one of the Knights, trailing, 3-4 after the top of the fifth.
Tyler McGonigle was walked to start the inning, then was brought across home on a sacrifice fly.
Ben Watson hit a double to left center, advanced to third on the sacrifice fly, and then scored on a wild pitch.
Arcadia extended their lead to 5-3 after the bottom half of the fifth. The Blue Jays again responded as they tacked on another run in the sixth.
Garrett Schwartzbeck hit a RBI single to center field. The Knights brought their lead to 7-4 after the sixth.
David Woolley was walked before
Eamon McCoubrey brought him home with a RBI single to center field. On a ground out into double play, another Etown run scored in the seventh.
The Blue Jays tied up the game, 7-7 in the eighth. McGonigle doubled to right center and then advanced on a sacrifice bunt. McGonigle then scored on a wild pitch. Arcadia ensured their, 8-7 win in the bottom of the eighth with a RBI double.
Elizabethtown will host Dickinson tomorrow, April 12 at 3:30PM.
