Blue Jays Pick Up Two Wins at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team started off their second weekend of Landmark Conference play with two wins over Moravian. The Blue Jays move to 14-5 overall and 5-0 in the Landmark while Moravian falls to, 7-13, 2-3. 

GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 7, MORAVIAN 4

Elizabethtown put one on the board in the second as Justin Wetzel doubled to left field scoring AJ Bednar who singled to center field to get on base. Moravian then took the lead in the bottom of the second as they score three runs. In the third, Etown retook the lead, 4-3. Quinten Perilli and Robbie Bertucio opened the inning with singles before David Woolley was walked to load the bases. Woolley scored on Perilli's single and Bertucio scored off Tyler McGonigle's single to left field. A ground out hit into a double play moved Perilli across home plate. 

The Blue Jays put up another run in the fourth as Ben Watson started the inning with a single to center field. Watson then scored on a ground out to second base. The fifth through seventh innings were scoreless as Etown led, 5-3. The Blue Jays put up their final two runs in the eighth. To open the inning, James Vito was hit by a pitch and advanced on Garrett Schwartzbeck's single. Vito then scored as Watson reached first on a error by the second baseman. Schwartzbeck then scored off of Woolley's single to right field. Moravian scored their final run in the bottom of the ninth as Elizabethtown won, 7-4. 

GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 7, MORAVIAN 1

Game two saw a similar score for the Blue Jays as they scored first in the top of the first. Watson led off with his fourth homerun of the season. After two walks, Bednar reached on a error by the second baseman which allowed Perilli to score. The Greyhounds scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly to right field. Etown scored another run in the third to take a 3-1 lead. Bertucio singled to center then advanced on Perilli's single. Bertucio got to third on a sac bunt and then scored on a fielder's choice. 

Etown tacked on three runs on three hits in the fourth to extend their lead. Schwartzbeck, Woolley, and Watson each recorded a RBI. In the fifth, Bednar singled to center field. Chance Montgomery singled through the left side to advance Bednar. Bednar then stole third and scored on a throwing error by the catcher to win, 7-1. The sixth through eighth innings were scoreless and called after eight. 

The Blue Jays are back at Moravian tomorrow started at 12PM to finish the conference series.
