FORT PIERCE, Fla.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team picked up their fourth win of the week as they defeated Penn St.-Behrend, 2-1. Senior,
Ben Watson also recorded his 100th career-hit in the win.
Aiden Russell picked up his first career-win on the mound for the Blue Jays, recording five strikeouts.
Penn St.-Behrend scored their lone run in the first, from then on the Lions pitcher got PSU-B out of loaded base situations. In the bottom of the third,
Robbie Bertucio singled up the middle, then stole second.
David Woolley and
Quinten Perilli were walked to load the bases. For Etown's third out, he struck out swinging. In the top of the sixth, the Lions had another scoring opportunity with players on first and third. A ground out to second then resulted in a double play to end the inning.
In the bottom of the sixth, Elizabethtown scored their two runs of the game.
Mason Woolwine was walked, then advanced on a wild pitch.
Garrett Schwartzbeck bunted for a single, advancing Woolwine. On a ground out to second base, Woolwine scored. Schwartzbeck then advanced on a wild pitch before Watson singled to left center to bring home Schwartzbeck.
Watson went 2-5 with a RBI. Schwartzbeck went 2-2 with a run scored and a double. Berturcio went 3-5 with a double.
Elizabethtown is back tomorrow, March 9 as they face Northwestern (MN) at 11AM and Gettysburg at 2:30 PM.
