ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown College baseball team completed the three-game Landmark Conference series against Juniata, Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Jays took down the Eagles, 12-4 with a season-high 18 hits.
Kyle Mulville picked up his third win of the season on the mound, striking out four.
The Blue Jays bats came alive just in the first inning as they scored five runs on six hits.
Tyler McGonigle started off the inning with a double to right center.
Robbie Bertucio brought McGonigle home on a single up the middle. After Bertucio advanced on a balk,
Quinten Perilli brought in
David Woolley and Bertucio with a double through the left side. Etown led, 3-0 with one out.
AJ Bednar hit a RBI single to third, scoring Perilli and then scored on
James Vito's single to the shortstop. After the first inning, Etown led Juniata, 5-0.
After the Blue Jays forced the Eagle's pitcher to retire after one, Elizabethtown scored their sixth run in the bottom of the second. The third inning was scoreless, before Juniata put up their first run in the top of the fourth.
Ben Watson then started off the bottom of the fourth knocking one out of the park to right field for the Blue Jays lone run of the fourth.
Etown extended their lead to 9-1 in the fifth as they tacked on two more runs. After being hit by a pitch then advancing on a ground out to third,
Justin Wetzel scored off Berturcio's RBI single to left field. Watson was also hit by a pitch, advanced on Bertucio's single then went home on Woolley's double down the right field line.
In the sixth, the Blue Jays scored three runs on three hits to take a, 12-1 lead. In an inning of pinch hitters,
Joe Limongelli reached on a fielder's choice then was sent home by
RJ Agriss' homerun to left field.
Aaron Hess hit a single to second to score
Mason Woolwine after he got on base with a single to right center. In the top of the seventh, Juniata scored three runs on three hits, still trailing, 12-4.
Bertucio went 3-4 with two runs, and two RBIs. Perilli went 3-4 with one run, three RBIs, and a double. Watson went 1-3 with two runs, one RBI, and a homerun. Agriss went 1-2 with one run, two RBIs and a homerun.
Elizabethtown will travel to Moravian this weekend for another Landmark Conference series.
