Albright Hands Blue Jays First Loss of the Season

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Albright Lions got the best of the Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team on Wednesday evening, as Albright handed the Blue Jays their first loss of the season. The Lions recorded five goals in the second quarter to win, 9-8. 

In the first quarter, Elizabethtown was on the board first within the first two minutes of play. Hannah Cressman recorded her first of three assists to Sam Deiaco. Just two minutes apart, Cressman and Megan Gress scored two more goals for Etown extending their lead to, 3-0. Albright scored their first goal of the game just 30 seconds later, then added their second shortly after. In the second quarter, the Lions tied up the game, 3-3 on a free-position goal and then scored on another free-position at the 4:30 minute mark. Albright took the lead, 4-3. Deiaco answered back for the Blue Jays as she scored her own free-position goal to tie up the game once more. Before halftime, Albright scored three more goals to lead, 7-4. 

In the third quarter, Albright kept their momentum scoring their final two goals within the first three minutes. Seven minutes later, Cressman assisted Deiaco for Etown's fifth goal. In the fourth quarter, Elizabethtown picked it as they scored three goals. Cressman and Deiaco totaled the final three for the Blue Jays as they fell short, 9-8. With 16 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Etown had one final free position attempt but it was saved by the Albright goalie. 

Cressman recorded her first hat-trick of the season while also adding three assists. Deiaco added four goals and two assists. Alayna Trynosky had a season-high 12 saves. 

Elizabethtown will travel to Southwestern (TX) during spring break on March 8 at 4:00 PM EST.
