BETHLEHEM, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball team moved to 4-6 in Landmark Conference play as they defeated Moravian, 75-69. The Blue Jays outscored the Greyhounds in the second half, 44-31 for the win.
Elizabethtown started off with a 10-9 lead over Moravian following a three-pointer from
Jalin Robinson and
Rance Russo. Moravian then went on a 8-0 run taking the lead, 17-10. Midway through the half, a three from the Greyhounds extended their lead by nine. A Russo layup brought the score to 27-19 at the 9:07 minute mark. Moravian then put up eight points in a row, leading by 16 points. The Blue Jays kept chipping away at Moravian leads to bring it down to an eight point lead. Robinson sunk a three with three minutes remaining as the Etown continued to trail, 37-29. Russo made a jumper with a minute remaining in the half. Etown trailed, 38-31 at halftime.
To start the second half the two teams started off trading points before the Blue Jays got hot. At 17:03,
Niko Georgelis sunk a three as Etown trailed, 46-36. A jumper from Russo and a three from
Austin Finarelli cut Moravian's lead, 50-43. At the ten minute mark,
Jayden Holland dropped in a layup bringing the Blue Jays closer to Moravian. Moravian led by just five points, 56-51. At 8:44, Etown had come within four points of the Greyhounds following a Russo layup.
Reese Ziegler gave the Blue Jays the lead at the 7:19 minute mark. With two minutes remaining, the Blue Jays led by four points. Two consecutive Etown layups extended Elizabethtown's lead, 73-65. Through the end of the half, the teams traded free-throws, with Elizabethtown coming out on top, 75-69.
Russo led the team with 27 points as he went 13-18 in field goals.
Dylan Rowe, Finarelli, and Holland each totaled nine points. The Blue Jays shot .477 from the field, totaled 44 points in the paint and 19 points off turnovers.
The Blue Jays travel to Catholic this Wednesday, February 8th at 6 PM.
