ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team moved to 3-0 on the season as they defeated Lycoming, 16-10 on a cold Saturday.
Elizabethtown started off the first quarter with a 2-0 lead after goals from
Sam Deiaco and
Madison Hennelly. Lycoming quickly took over the lead, 3-2 at the 6:51 minute mark. Three minutes later the Warriors tacked on another goal. At the 2:45 minute mark, Deiaco assisted
Hannah Cressman for Etown's third goal. With two minutes remaining, Lycoming added a fifth goal extending their lead, 5-3. In the second quarter, the Warriors scored the first goal taking a three-point lead. Deiaco tallied the Blue Jays fourth goal before Lycoming added another at 9:20. To close out the half, the Blue Jays tacked on four goals in a row to take an, 8-7 lead.
Lycoming started off the third quarter to tie up the game, 8-8. Seconds later, Deiaco recorded a man-up goal assisted by
Megan Gress. From there Etown really gained momentum adding two more goals before Lycoming scored their ninth goal. Less than a minute later, Gress added Etown's 12th goal to lead, 12-9. Lycoming again started off the quarter with the first goal. To end the fourth quarter, Elizabethtown scored four more goals to win, 16-10. Gress, Deiaco, and
Drew Bridges scored the final goals.
Deiaco led the team with six goals and four ground balls. Gress totaled three goals and four assists while Cressman totaled three goals and five assists.
Both
Alayna Trynosky and
Rachel Murphy tallied five saves each.
Elizabethtown will host Albright, Wednesday March 1 at 6PM.
