ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- Senior,
Hannah Cressman re-set the single-game program record for assists as the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team toppled Lancaster Bible, 19-2, Wednesday in the Blue Jays home opener.
With the win the Blue Jays improve to 2-0 overall while the Chargers fall to, 0-1.
Cressman tallied a career-high 13 assists to break the school record which she set last season. Cressman finished the game with 14 points, adding a goal to her tally, which is tied for second most in program history.
Sam Deiaco picked up a career-high eight goals while
Megan Gress added three goals and five assists.
Elizabethtown started strong early tallying three goals before Lancaster Bible scored their first at 10:33. Deiaco and
Madison Hennelly scored the first three for the Blue Jays. From there Etown wouldn't let up as they fired off seven more goals before the end of the first quarter. Deiaco,
Kendall Ulmer,
Drew Bridges, Cressman, and
Megan Gress all had a hand on the seven goals. The second quarter was a bit slower for both teams as Etown totaled four goals in the quarter. Within the first minute the assist from Cressman and goal by Gress pushed the game to a running clock.
Calli Beyer closed out the half with her first career goal as the Blue Jays led, 14-1 at halftime.
In the third quarter at the 8:55 minute mark, the Chargers scored their final goal of the game. After a few turnovers, Cressman assisted Deiaco on the Blue Jays 15th goal of the game to end the third quarter. After some back and forth to start the fourth quarter, Elizabethtown scored two goals back to back within two minutes of each other. Deiaco and Bridges scored the final two goals for Etown as the Blue Jays won, 19-2.
Elizabethtown returns home this Saturday, February 25th at 4 PM as they host Lycoming.
