River Hawks Roll Past Blue Jays in Second Half

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown field hockey team moved to 5-5 and 2-2 in Landmark Conference play on a rainy Saturday afternoon as visiting Susquehanna defeated Etown, 3-0. 

Susquehanna was dominate from the start of the game as they only allowed one Elizabethtown shot in the first quarter. Angelina Giglio-Tos was able to make two saves in the quarter to keep the Riverhawks off the board. The Riverhawks kept up their momentum after Etown started off the second quarter with a corner and a shot by Chloe Smith but it ended wide. Susquehanna kept possession through the quarter tallying six shots. 

Susquehanna was able to get two on the board in the third quarter to take a 2-0 lead. At the 34 minute mark following a penalty corner, the ball was assisted in from the right by Kari Schmidt and lifted up and in the goal by Ashley Schreffler. The Riverhawks answered again about six minutes later. Almost 10 minutes into the fourth quarter, Susquehanna scored their final goal to win, 3-0. In the fourth they held Etown to zero shots. 

Giglio-Tos made six saves in the goal for her second most this season. 

Elizabethtown is back on the road, Wednesday October 11 at 6 PM as they travel to Catholic.
