Blue Jays Lock Up No. 3 Seed in Landmark Tournament with Sweep over Goucher

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team locked up the No. 3 seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament with a sweep over Goucher, Tuesday evening. 
 
For the first time since 2021 the Blue Jays will host a Landmark postseason match. Elizabethtown will host Drew, Tuesday November 7 at 7:00 PM. 

Set one against Goucher began with Elizabethtown leading, 8-5 after a 6-1 run. The two teams then traded points until the Gopher took the lead at 14-11 after four straight points. Two straight kills from Katie Scaggs and an ace from Lucy Stern tied up the set, 14-14. Both teams kept it tight until Etown rallied and recorded the final four points to win, 25-21. Karlee Ray, Scaggs, and Kambrie Hepler contributed a kill on the run. 

Set two saw Etown jump ahead, 6-1 after five points in a row as Scaggs with the help from Emma Bitner put up two straight blocks. The Blue Jays tallied three kills in a row from Scaggs and Savannah Lesley as the Jays pulled ahead, 9-3. Etown continued gaining momentum, rattling off five straight points. Blocks from Scaggs and Georgianna Kahley kept Etown in front by more than ten as the Jays led, 22-10. The Gophers smacked down one final kill before two Scaggs kills sandwiched a Lesley kill to win, 25-11. 

Elizabethtown again jumped out to a commanding lead as they started set three. Following six points in a row, Etown led 7-1. Sophie Savick served up two straight aces, bringing the score to 13-4. Goucher was able to creep closer as they tallied four points in a row and then recorded another six after two Etown points. The Gophers just trailed by two at 17-15. Scaggs smacked down three kills in a row to keep Etown in the lead by five. Scaggs again added two kills as she sandwiched a Gopher attack error. Four kills from Goucher brought the score to 23-21; Etown before two Gopher errors ended the set, 25-21. 

Scaggs recorded a career-high 18 kills while hitting .593. Scaggs also added two block assists and two solo blocks. Hepler tallied 24 digs while Bitner added 18 assists.
