BETHLEHEM, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team picked up their fourth Landmark Conference win of the season as they swept Moravian, Friday evening.
The first set began in a back-n-forth fashion as Elizabethtown led, 9-8 following a kill from
Georgianna Kahley.
Katie Scaggs put down three kills for the Blue Jays to bring them out to a 12-10 lead. Etown held their lead and extended it to 20-16 after another kill from Scaggs and an ace by Kahley. Scaggs finished off the set with a kill to win, 25-19.
Set two started with Moravian in the lead after they tallied three straight points. Four straight Greyhound errors put the Blue Jays out in front, 12-10. Moravian retook the lead before Scaggs tied up the set, 13-13.
Savannah Lesley added two kills after Etown went on a 4-1 run. The Greyounds then jumped to a 21-18 lead before the Blue Jays rattled off five points in a row. Kahley and
Leah Gormley put down the final points for Etown to win, 25-22.
Elizabethtown was off to a hot start in set three as they came out with a 16-2 lead following four straight Blue Jay kills. Lesley and Kahley each put down a kill to bring the score to 19-5.
Gracie Britten and
Marissa Clapsadle then brought Etown within two of match point. Moravian managed come within ten of Etown but it wasn't enough as Elizabethtown won, 25-13.
Elizabethtown is back at it tomorrow to start off the day with a conference match at Wilkes at 11AM before taking on Rutgers-Camden.
