Hepler, Kahley Hit Career Milestone in Wins over Lebanon Valley & Rowan

ANNVILLE, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team picked up two wins on the day in a tri-match with Lebanon Valley and Rowan. The Blue Jays defeated LebVal, 3-2 before sweeping Rowan, 3-0. 

Kambrie Hepler marked a career milestone as she surpasses 1,500 digs while Georgianna Kahley recorded her 100th total block.

The first set against Lebanon Valley was tight as the Dutchmen won, 25-18. LebVal started off the set with an 8-5 lead and then pulled ahead 14-8 to extend their lead. Kills from Gracie Britten and Kahley along with an ace from Leah Gormley brought the Blue Jays within three. Lebanon Valley then jumped ahead, 19-12 after a 5-1 run. Two Dutchmen errors brought Etown closer with the score, 20-15. LVC continued to pull away as they finished off the set with a kill to win, 25-18. 

Set two was tighter as the two teams traded points at the start. A Karlee Ray killed tied up the set 9-9 before Lebanon Valley took a 13-10 lead. Three consecutive Blue Jay kills but the team back on top by one point. Kahley and Savannah Lesley sandwiched kills in a four-point run giving Etown a 20-17 lead. Etown then tallied another four in a row before a Dutchman service error ended the set, 25-20; Etown. 

The Blue Jays were dominate at the start of set three as they jumped to a 12-3 lead after rattling off six straight. Three Dutchmen attack errors extended Etown's lead by ten. A Kahley kill and Lucy Stern ace kept the Blue Jays in front by ten at 21-11. Elizabethtown was able to finish off the set with three points in a row as Britten ended the set, 25-25 with a block. 

Lebanon Valley flipped the script on set four as they had a dominate, 25-12 win. Elizabethtown started off the set strong leading 5-2 as Katie Scaggs smacked down a kill. LVC went on a 7-1 to jump to a 11-7 lead. The Dutchmen continued to pull away extending their lead by ten. Etown recorded two of the final nine points giving Lebanon Valley the 25-12 win. 

Elizabethtown sought revenge from set four as they leaped to an 11-3 lead after a Scaggs kill, two Hepler aces, and Britten block. Britten then smacked down a kill and recorded another block to extend Etown's lead, 13-4. Lesley and Kahley tallied the final Blue Jay kills to take the 15-6 win. 

Kahley recorded a double-double as she totaled 12 kills and 13 digs. Emma Bitner also added a double-double tallying 35 assists and 12 digs. Scaggs totaled 11 kills while Hepler totaled 31 digs.

In set one against Rowan, Elizabethtown was off to a dominate start as they rattled off eight straight points to lead, 9-1. The Profs then went on a 7-1 to come within two of Etown. A block and a kill from Britten brought the score to 12-8. The Blue Jays began to pull away more tallying three in a row to take a 17-11 lead after three Profs errors. Kills from Scaggs and Kahley kept the Jays out in front, 22-17. Rowan tallied three in a row before Elizabethtown ended the set on a 3-1 run to win, 25-21. 

The Blue Jays were once again off to a hot start as they led, 13-3 early in the second set. Rowan cut Etowns lead in half with three points in a row. Britten, Kahley, Scaggs and Bitner contributed points on the Blue Jays six point run extending their lead to 20-7. Scaggs and Britten smacked down the final kill for Etown to win, 25-13. 

Etowns momentum didn't stop in the third set as they were once more out in front, 8-3 early following a Britten kill. After the teams traded points, the Blue Jays rattled off five straight points. Bitner dropped in a kill as Etown led, 19-14. Three points in a row from the Profs tied up the set, 21-21. Scaggs and a Rowan attack error regained Etowns lead. Rowan once again tied up the set 24-24 to force the extra points. A Lesley kill and a Britten block ended the set, 27-25. 

Britten led the match with 10 kills, two solo blocks and a block assist. Kahley aded nine kills and a solo block and two block assists. 

Elizabethtown moves back into Landmark Conference action next week as they travel to Moravian on Friday, October 27 at 7PM.
