ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa..-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team grabbed their sixth sweep of the season as they defeated Lancaster Bible in non-conference action, Wednesday evening. The Blue Jays cruised to a 3-0 victory as the set scores were, 25-16, 25-16, 25-15.
Elizabethtown was off to a strong start as they held a 7-4 lead over Lancaster Bible, early. Etown kept rolling as they put up three straight points after
Katie Scaggs smacked down a kill. The Chargers closed the gap on the Blue Jays as they just trailed by three following two kills and an attack error.
Gracie Britten kills sandwiched two Charger attack errors to extend the Jays lead to 20-13. The Blue Jays ran away with the set tallying the final four straight points.
Karlee Ray ended the set, 25-16 with a kill.
Set two started similar as Elizabethtown came out to an 8-5 lead following two kills from
Savannah Lesley.
Georgianna Kahley added a kill to go up, 11-8. Etown then rattled off five straight points to jump to a 17-9 lead after a Scaggs block. The two teams traded points for a while before the Blue Jays ended the set on a 3-1 to win, 25-16.
Lancaster Bible began to gain some momentum to start the third set, following three straight points the Chargers led, 7-4. After some back-n-forth, the Blue Jays ran away with seven straight points as Kahley,
Emma Bitner, and Scaggs added kills to lead, 16-11. LBC recorded three more points before once again the Blue Jays rattled off five in a row as
Kambrie Hepler tallied two straight aces. Lancaster Bible was able to put down one final kill before two kills from Lesley and a Chargers attack error ended the set, 25-15.
Kahley led the match with nine kills (.318) and six digs. Lesley totaled eight kills (.286) and three block assists. Hepler totaled 27 digs while Bitner totaled 22 assists.
Elizabethtown hits the road this Saturday to compete in a non-conference tri-match with Lebanon Valley and Rowan starting at 11 AM.
