WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Elizabethtown field hockey team got back in the win column, Saturday afternoon at Wilkes University. The Blue Jays blanked the Colonels, 1-0.
Elizabethtown got to work quickly against Wilkes as
Drew Bridges tallied the lone goal in the 2:52
nd minute. Etown was dominant in the first, earning seven penalty corners. In the second quarter, the Blue Jays had another opportunity as Etown drew a penalty stroke.
Megan Meyer fired the shot, but it was saved by Wilkes goalie, Carly Eidle. The Colonels were able to take more chances in the quarter with four shots.
In the third quarter, Elizabethtown once again held most of the possessions, but they were unable to capitalize on another goal.

Maeve Keeney were able to take shots in the quarter. The fourth quarter started in a back-and-forth fashion until Etown was able to take three consecutive shots but two of them were saved by the Colonels goalie. In the final four minutes of play, Wilkes earned five corners while taking four shots, but the Colonels were unable to get on the board resulting in a 1-0 Etown win.
Angelina Giglio-Tos earned the shutout in the goal, making two saves.
Elizabethtown will travel to Moravian, Wednesday, October 18 at 7PM.
